Haven’t seen rain this heavy in a long time–if ever. The highways look like class III rapids, roads and schools are closed.

These storms have been classified as two 100-year storms, occurring back-to-back. For this region, a 100 year storm generates over 7.8 inches of run-off in a 24-hour period. A 100-year storm is an event that has a 1/100th chance of occurring within any given year. Having them back-to-back within 48 hours is an extremely rare occurrence and no municipality requires design of drainage systems to control such a rainfall event in this State.
