Update 2 1/27/2015 9AM: Forecast calls for 18″-28″ in southeastern CT and less throughout the state. Travel ban is still in place through most of the state. Snow to lessen around noon. As of now snow accumulations are around 10″ and only a handful of power outages. With heavy winds causing snow drifts, snow plowing will take longer than usual.

With many media outlets reporting that this winter’s first blizzard could bring up to 2 feet of snow for many regions in the state and be in the top 5 worst blizzards on record, we would like to assure you that we are preparing staff and vendors to handle the snow as efficiently as possible. More importantly, we wish you to stay warm and safe by staying off the roads and ensuring you have adequate supplies at home to ride out the storm. Utility companies are warning it’s customers to be prepared in the event there are prolonged power outages too. This means warm clothing, water and food are important to have on hand. If you do lose power, be sure to report it to your utility immediately. As of 11AM, the National Weather Service is recommending vehicles stay off the road beginning Monday night and throughout the day Tuesday. The state is also activating its emergency operations center at 4 p.m. today, Monday. Emergency numbers are below.

With the likely chance that highways will be closed due to this historic storm, the Northeast Property Group offices will be closed for portions of the day Tuesday, however our answering service will be prepared to receive your calls that are urgent. All routine messages can be left in our general mailbox which will be checked remotely throughout the day. We also recommend emailing your property manager any concerns. All emergency calls, including loss of power, should be sent directly to the utility or to 911.

As your management company, our staff is already working diligently to provide the best possible service to our clients. All managers have been taking appropriate precautions and have been in contact with our snow removal contractors to establish lines of communication and protocols. The best advice at this time is remain in your home and avoid driving. All crews will be working overtime to keep roads clear as best they can, but in reality cleanups will be taking place well into Wednesday and Thursday. You patience and understanding are appreciated.

  • If you use a generator, follow all safety precautions provided by the manufacturer.
  • If you use a cell phone, save your power or have a plan to be able to charge the phone.
  • Gather all necessary medications and make sure you have an adequate supply.
  • If you rely on oxygen please be sure you have an ample supply on hand.
  • If you, a friend or family member relies on electricity for life support devices, well water or refrigeration for medications, please make preparations now to switch to a backup source or move to an alternate location. It’s also a good idea to have a battery back-up for medical equipment.

    This message is for Chris Myers,
    I am a resident at Harbor View Estates in Norwich. I live at 12 Paddock Lane. January 28, 2015 is supposed to be our owners meeting. A time that I feel is not available for all owners to attend but that is a discussion for another day. The snow plowing situation at Harbor View NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. It is a nightmare here and it always happens during the major storms. Perhaps the board needs to contract with a company that can handle the situation. At this moment, 5:46 p.m. my car is still at my place of employment(so I had to walk) because once I made it home, the parking lot is a nightmare. There isn’t even room to turn around when you get stuck. And the only other parking area with maybe an opportunity to park in was inaccessible with the condition of the driveways here. This is unacceptable !! Yet when it snows 2 inches with a temp of 40 degrees and rain, the plows show up twice to plow. The board really needs to address this and come up with a contingency plan. I work at a hospital so we were mandated to report to work and the last thing I want to do after a 24 hour shift is walk home because I cannot access my residence.
